York Christmas Trip 7-10 Dec 2015
To celebrate me finishing for the Christmas hols and get us in the festive spirit we booked a short trip down to York - we drove down on 7th (200 miles) and booked into the Holmlea Guest House which was just 1 mile south of the city. In the few days running up to the trip there had been bad flooding across Cumbria and Yorkshire and although the roads getting down were fine, we did notice a few waterlogged fields and the River Ouse in York had burst its banks (see pics below).
Over the next few days we enjoyed wandering around the city, visiting the National Train Museum, eating, drinking and even getting in a bit of Christmas shopping at the lovely local markets. On 10th we headed back via the York Designer Outlet - a huge shopping complex that was full of Christmas shoppers and screaming kids so we didn't stay long!
