January Snow

So...rather than celebrating Margie's birthday with the rest of the Jamieson's down in Glastonbury as planned, we're still here in Edinburgh due to the snow. Although we got to the airport fine yesterday, our flight to Bristol was delayed further and further as we sat watching the news which actually told us that Bristol airport was shut! We could see that the Bristol and Cardiff area seemed worst affected and it was still snowing heavily down there. So when the flight was further delayed to 2.40pm at the earliest (when we were meant to be flying at 8.45am originally), we used up our refreshment vouchers courtesy of EasyJet and headed back to the customer service desk to find out our options. Luckily, as the flight had now been delayed for over 5 hours we were entitled to a full refund....as we weren't sure if the flight was still actually going to go and then if we would be able to get from Bristol to Glastonbury if the roads were bad, we made the decision to head home 🙁 In the end, the Edinburgh-Bristol flight left at 5pm, and Max and Zoe travelling from Tunbridge Wells and Hoey and Polly coming from Chester also admitted defeat with their journeys, so unfortunately Margie and Phil had to celebrate without us! Don't think we could have ever predicted this was how the day would turn out! The snow only started here in Edinburgh around 6pm ish and carried on and off throughout the night, so today we headed out on our usual Blackford Hill walk to check out the snow. As you can see from our snaps it was pretty nice out and there were plenty of people out on their sledges/skis/bum boards/snowboards enjoying the snow. We've decided that if it stays into next week or we get any more then we're definitely going to purchase a sledge (as we can't afford a snowboard!).
