Jamieson weekend in Bath November 2014

For the last weekend in November we headed down to Bath to have a Christmas weekend with the Jamiesons. Glenn and I flew down to Bristol and bussed our way over to Bath (about a 40min trip), where we met up with Ho, Polly, Max, Zoe and Margie. We were staying in a self catering house just a 15min walk out of the city centre...great location! On the Friday evening we went for a brewery tour at Bath Brew Store (which involved some tasty samples!) and then had a meal out in a local pub where Margie could get her desired cottage pie 🙂 The next day it was a lovely sunny day; we had a leisurely breakfast before heading into town to check out the markets and shops....they were lovely however as it was a Saturday everywhere was jam packed with people. We ended up looking in a few shops on the outskirts of the city before meeting up with the family for drinks in a nice pub down by the River Avon. That evening we had a meal at the local Indian restaurant which involved lots of chats, laughs and rhyming games! The next day we packed up and left the house round 11am - energy levels were slightly lower today so we decided to have a nice amble around the Royal Crescent area of Bath and have a coffee and cake break. Once our energy levels were slightly improved Max, Zoe and Margie headed back to the shops while the rest of us grabbed some food. At about 4pm we all headed our separate ways - Max and Zoe to Kent, Ho, Pol and Margie to Chester and Glenn and I for a pint and then on to Bristol. Once we'd survived the packed train Glenn and I walked from the train station in Temple Meads to Clifton where Glenn had booked us into The Clifton Hotel. By the time we arrived we were pretty goosed and didn't have the energy to walk the 10 minutes into Clifton village for tea so chose to eat in the hotel at the 'Racks' restaurant...and we were glad we did as the food was lovely (as the photos show!). The next day we wandered back through Clifton which is a lovely suburb of Bristol and then through the Old city and back to the station to get the bus to the airport for our 4pm flight back to Edinburgh. It was a lovely weekend catching up with the Jamiesons...and seeing the Christmas lights and markets of Bath and Bristol has got me into the Christmas spirit 🙂 Roll on Christmas shopping in York in a week's time!!
