Glenn’s Birthday – Lakes & Chester, May 2015

For Glenn's birthday weekend we headed to Chester via a one night stop in the Lakes. This time we stayed in a hostel in Grasmere and took the opportunity to spend an afternoon out walking the hills looking over the village (click here for details - very enjoyable!). The hostel itself was nice - up a secluded lane from the village, with plenty of amenities for those that needed (kitchen, bike shed, wifi etc). The next morning the weather was pretty dull so we headed off early down to Chester, passing through Liverpool on the way to pick up Margie. We spent the next 3 nights in Chester at Hoey and Polly's pad and had a lovely time catching up and exploring the city. Highlights included a tasty Indian meal on the Friday night for Glenn's birthday, enjoying a leisurely meal and bottle of wine at Piccolino's (Italian) on Saturday and then sunning ourselves in a beer garden in the lovely Handbridge area, exploring Hoole and finishing up with a tasty breakfast down by the river on Monday morning before making the long drive back up to Edinburgh. A few photos of the trip are below.....
