First weekend 29-30 September
On Saturday morning we headed out for a walk and managed to find the Hermitage of Braid path that starts just 10 mins away from the flat. It's a lovely path running alongside the Braid Burn stream, with paths off it leading up to the Blackford Hill. Once we got to the top the wind had picked up a bit but the views were well worth it!
After grabbing a bite to eat back in Morningside, we took a slow saunter into the city centre, walking up through Bruntsfield, Tollcross and Grassmarket and exploring the shops as we went. The Royal Mile was as busy as usual so we did a bit of people watching before checking out the Police Information Centre which is a small museum with information and displays of policing history in Edinburgh including stories about the famous Greyfriars Bobby and infamous Burke and Hare.
We then enjoyed a well deserved drink and meal in town before walking the 40 minute (ish) route home, passing Luca's chocolatier (cafe/ice cream parlour) on the way (situated at the top of Morningsidde road) where we (I) bought a scoop of chocolate ice cream to make the walk that bit more enjoyable. The cafe is open until 10pm everyday so I imagine that will be a routine stop on our walks back from town!
On Sunday we headed back to IKEA and bought a few more bits of furniture that we needed and then settled back in the flat with a glass of wine to begin the assembling of the dining table and bedside cabinet....only to discover that we did not have a screwdriver, the one implement needed!! So we enjoyed the wine and put the assembling on the to-do list for next week.
