Beecraigs Country Park Walk

As the weather was nice and still on Saturday (26th) we headed 20 miles west to Linlithgow to have a walk around the Beecraigs Country Park - a walk that we'd found in our little Edinburgh walks book we got for Christmas 🙂 The town of Linlithgow itself seemed nice - the main tourist attraction is its palace which sits in the middle of the town, with the street running alongside it. We drove through the street and then up a narrow road to reach the Beecraigs Country Park. The 8km walk took us through the deer park, round a loch, through thewood to a open area that had an adventure playground for kids and a BBQ area (that was covered in snow!) and lake (that was frozen). The first part of the walk had been quite quiet but here was more bustling with lots of families playing in the playgound or in the snow....we imagined it would be a really popular area in summer. We then continued through Beecraigs Wood before crossing a road and walking a short, steep ascent up to the top of Cockeleroy Hill. From the top we had great views of the surrounding area including back over Linlithgow and the Firth bridge in the distance. After taking a few pictures we headed back down the hill and through the wood back to our car. Another walk to be ticked off the list!
