Sunny Melrose Walk 23 Aug

Taking advantage of the mercury hitting a very pleasant 20C we drove 1 hour south in to the Borders to the town of Melrose for a 9 mile walk around the surrounding area. Melrose was a lovely Scottish town - it has an abbey, a small market square with nice independent shops and plenty of green space. We didn't spend that long in the town - just walking through following the walk directions however I would defo like to go back again and spend more time exploring the town and abbey. The walk (click here for more details) took us through the town, out on an old railway track and up through woodland before skirting Cauldshiels Loch and following the River Tweed back to Melrose. It took us about 4 hours which included stopping for a bite to eat half way around. A lovely day out in the sun!
