Weekend down at Nanny’s 26-27th Sept

Glenn signed himself up for a 2 day powerboat course in PSM so we took the opportunity to have a little 'staycation' weekend at Mum's 🙂 We headed down early on Saturday, Glenn off to his course and Daisy and I up to Mum's. We went to Port Erin and had a good look around the shops (I bought a nice scarf and candles in Trend and we stocked up on some deli stuff for tea). Then we headed back to Mum's and Erin and Howie came to play while J&D took Ella to her fell run in Peel. The three (H, E & D) had a great time playing together, it was lovely watching them interact! Plenty of playdoh, dress up, pretend play and then hide and seek in the garden, interspersed with jam on toast and yoghurt! We also let them loose in the field next to Mum's where we were joined by Ella and JQ and walked up to the tower to take in the views. Once the kids were gone I took a little walk via Perwick to meet Glenn in the Albs - such a nice evening and so refreshing being back south with the lovely views. That evening the four of us (Mum, G, D & me) enjoyed a lovely deli tea (cheese, meats, bread, crudites) and sampled 2 of Mum's bottles of red wine she'd recently purchased. Unfortunately a rogue brick thrown by Daisy landed right on Glenn's glass leaving a red wine stain on Mum's cream carpet...oops 🙁 The next morning Glenn was up early for day 2 of his course, and so was Mum to head off for an organised walk from Ballasalla to Glen Maye. Daisy had a nice chilled start to the day (a lovely bath/shower and a play) and then we had a walk back up to the tower to see if we could spot Daddy in the speedboat in the harbour. We couldn't, but the views were stunning and sea like a millpond! Daisy sampled the last of the blackberries and then we drove to Chapel beach for Daisy to have a go on her bike along the prom and on the beach. The weather was so nice we took time to play in the sand and even took our shoes and socks off for a paddle! We then went back up to Mum's for lunch (smoked salmon and boiled egg on rye bread) and then Mum arrived home. Daisy headed for a nap - no issues - and I chilled and chatted with Mum for a bit before having a nice walk around the block. Once Daisy woke up we packed up our stuff, said our goodbyes and thank yous to Mum and drove back to Elly. Such a lovely weekend, Glenn loved his course and I had a complete break from work and technology, just enjoying catching up and being outside 🙂
