Wedding Anniversary – 2 years today! 2/8/20
We celebrated our second anniversary today with a lovely family day out. First we headed to Peel where it was Carnival day (we had forgotten!), so it was lovely and busy with the sun shining, music playing and plenty of people milling about. We took a walk around the castle and then headed over the bridge to watch the Manx dancing - Daisy loved it! We bumped into the Watterson's so had a chat with them before moving on to the bouncy castle (for Daisy, not us!). Glenn and I watched a few harbour porpoises playing in the bay(!!) and then eventually (literally) dragged Daisy off the castle to head back to the car.
Next stop was Glen Wyllin for a 'picnic' lunch (in the car). The place was pretty busy with tents, campervans and campers...we parked up down near the beach and enjoyed our pasta salad, crisps and sweets. We then drove on to Ramsey via Bride to get Daisy off to sleep. Although this worked, the minute we stopped in Ramsey square Daisy opened her eyes and said groggily 'I want an ice cream!. Funny how she currently equates many places on the IOM with ice cream (Laxey, Peel and now Ramsey!). So we finally tried the Gelatory shop, sharing a waffle cone with 1 scoop blueberry and white chocolate cheesecake ice cream and 1 scoop chocolate (Daisy's choice) between the 3 of us. It was pretty tasty! We wandered along to the Co-op and got some fish for our tea and then headed back to the car and drove over the mountain road home. I love the view towards the north of the Island when you first get up on to the mountain road - seeing the actual shape of the coast and yellow sandy cliffs, and it looked lovely this evening with the sun shining.
Back home we fed Daisy (egg on toast with avocado and sweet potato wedges) and put her to bed, and then sat down to a lovely homecooked meal of sea bass, prawns in garlic and chilli, and steamed new potatoes, broccoli and leeks, accompanied by a glass of prosecco. Delicious! A perfect day 🙂
