Lakes Trip (Apr 2016) – Day 8 – Keswick/Edinburgh

Saturday 23 April Sadly today was the last day of our holiday 🙁 This morning we packed up, grabbed a sausage and bacon roll from Gregg's and then said our farewells to Ambleside before driving up 'The Struggle' to Kirkstone Pass where we had our breckie looking out over Lake Windermere. From here we continued over to Keswick where we spent an hour wandering around the town which was fairly busy as it was the weekend and also market day. We then sat outside a little pub making the most of the last bit of sun before the clouds came and then grabbed some soup and a pasty at the Cornish pasty shop before returned to the car, by which time it was pretty overcast. We left Keswick and headed to Penrith where we made a brief pitstop at the Rheged Centre where Glenn bought himself a nice pair of walking shoes which he'd seen on our way down last week. From here we continued our drive north, finally arriving back in Edinburgh about 5pm. It feels like we've been away longer than a week (in a good way!) -  we've been really lucky with the weather having sun every day and I think we've really made the most of our time down in the Lakes. We'll be back!!
